Grabbing A Tiger By The Tail

Grabbing a tiger by the tail, as in this humorous stock photo, is all about tackling a problem or project that is much more challenging that one would a first realize. While such a situation can often occur in life, it is in the business world that this image tackles. The African American businessman is stretched out horizontally over the the floor as he hold the tail of a leaping tiger. The wood-paneled corporate offices indicate corporate business. The idea of business is further enhanced by the man's suit and tie...which are flapping in the breeze as the man is hauled through the office by the big cat.

Tiger stock photos tend to be impactful and memorable as most of us have both a respect for and affection for the collective impression of tigers. They are seen as noble beasts and symbols of power, strength, and ferocity.

Tiger Shoots And Cracked Ribs

This image of a man stetched out horizontally behind a tiger, which he holds by the tail, was inspired by an event on the tiger shoot itself. A trainer had the tiger in a field held by a collar with a metal chain. There was a pause in the action and I was reloading my camera when I looked up at the instant a car drove by catching the tiger's attention. The Tiger leapt towards the car. I will never forget seeing the animal trainer, hanging on to the chain, stretched nearly  horizontal and parallel to the ground. She hit the ground with a thud and that was the end of the shoot for her. I later found out she had cracked two ribs in the incident.

I had my own disturbing moment with the tiger. I was photographing him when he jerked back suddenly and hit the sharp corner of a fence post. Somehow he associated the pain with me...I guess as I was standing next to the post, and then for the rest of the day when I would get near him he would hiss at me. Not exactly the relationship I wanted with him!
