Lion Face PIcture

In this lion face pictue the big cat looks directly into the camera seemingly as interested in us as we are in him. I think this is a particularly good looking lion...lions can sometimes look too scared up, or even a little moth eaten! This guy however look healthy, magnificent and regal. 

If you see a lion with a mane you not only know he is male, but that he has not been neutered (castrated). If these lose those parts they also lose their mane. A good sized male lion can weigh 450 pounds! 

I was once photographing a lion at a animal trainer's facility when she asked me to step back explaining that I was within the lion's strike zone. l stepped back. 

Another time I asked an animal trainer if her Tiger was more dangerous or her Lion.  She said the tiger because he had been neutered and at a almost kitten like playfulness about him wheras the lion fairly reeked of dominant aggressiveness. In fact, when we brought the lion in to my studio to be photographed our crew (including me) kind of gasped at first site of him. He just looked like he could easily kill us all. Back to the animal trainer's comment. She explained that with the Tiger people tended to let their guard down...not with the lion...and that is why she felt the tiger was more dangerous.
