Funny Meerkats

Meerkats are inherently funny little fellows...but a little Photoshop can take them to another level. Simplifying backgrounds, changing poses, and enhancing facial expressions all combine to create some truly hilarious images...and as with this one...some touching ones as well. One thing great about photographing meerkats...they do tend to stand still for you! But of course, the converse of that is that it is difficult to get a variety of arm and leg positions for use in our human-like poses and situations.

Did you know meerkats belong to the Mongoose family?

Scientific name: Suricata suricatta

They eat beetles, scorpions, spiders, caterpillars lizards, birds, fruits and plants, and eggs.

A group of meerkets is called a mob and can be as many as 50 members. 

Rival mobs will kill the pups of another mob!

Meerkats weigh under a kilogram and live 12 to 14 years.
