The lighthouse photo is an iconic metaphor for safety, refuge and guidance. It sends out a beacon over storm tossed waves to help those navigating troubled waters. The lighthouse stands noble and tall and unfazed by wind, rain and the ocean surge. The stormy skies are pierced by God ray beams lending a spiritual meaning to the image. The golden color of the sunlight flowing through the clouds sends and uplifting message despite the dark storm clouds that gather overhead. The storm itself can be seen as approaching or receeding making the image adaptable to whatever message it accompanies. The clouds also add a wonderful copy space for headlines or body copy. 

To create this majestic lighthouse scene I used clouds photographed in Yemen, ocean waves photographed off the coast of San Francisco, seagulls photographed on San Francisco Bay, and Pigeon Point Lighthouse in Northern California. The hint of a shaft of light streaming from the Beacon was added via Photoshop. The end result is a dramatic and versatile stock photo that can serve many uses from advertising and editorial to wall decor.

Spiritual Guidance Lighthouse

Spirtual guidance is one of the messages of this lighthouse photo of a majestic sunrise with sun beams spreading out behind a tall lighthouse casting it's beam over the rough waters of an ocean storm. Waves send sheets of spray into the air as they crash against the rocks at the base of the lighthouse. Three gulls glide around the lighthouse lending a bit of action and depth to the image.
