Meerkats At The Movies

A theater is filled with Meerkats in a funny stock photo for greeting cards and concepts. Some of the ideas addressed by this funny animal image are attention spans, presentations, and the unexpected. Not to mention...Meerkats are just plain cute! Our meerkat pictures include meerkats drinking beer (I call them beerkats), and a baby meerkat reaching to its mother or father (with meerkats its hard to tell...). 

In this picture one of the meerkats is muching popcorn from a extra large container. The rest of the meerkats are doing "the meerkat thing"...that is, standing up and looking all around. Not the ideal audience in a movie theater!

Meerkat Facts:

The scientific name for meerkats is Suricata suricatta with a family name of Herpestidae. They are mammals and live in groups called Mobs that have up to fifty members. They live in burrows that are up to five meters long. The feed in the daytime on insects, scorpions, plants and fruits, birds and eggs. They can live up to 14 years and weigh less than a kilogram. Meerkats are part of the Mongoose family and work well together sharing the duties of lookout, baby sitter, and gathering food. The "sentry" will stand on his hind legs and watch for jackals, hawks and eagles. If he spots one he will let out a high pitched shriek sending the mob to "bolt holes"...small holes they dig for emergency hiding.
