Bottle trees are only found on Socotra Island, and are among the most unique of the unusual flora and fauna on that magical island. Talk about cute trees, these Bottle trees are about the cutest of any tree anywhere! Fat little bodies leading up to short stubby branches almost devoid of leaves; How can one not be entranced by such miracles of nature?

Bottle Trees, Waterholes And The Red Sea

This bottle tree was situated in the Homhil protected area overlooking an idyllic waterhole above a white sand beach on the shore of the Red Sea. We hiked several hours down to this spot on a hot day and then cooled off in the clear blue water before resuming our journey down to the ocean's edge. This was truly an adventure vacation in which we were able to get away from it all and relax in relative solitude. The hike was incredibly scenic with breathtaking viewe around every bend. This is a leisure lifestyle I could get used to!
