Bengal Tiger Photo

This photo of a Bengal tiger shows the big cat standing on the edge of a cliff, symbolic of the tiger being on the precipice of extinction. The tiger is rimlit as the sun struggles to break out of the cloud cover behind the animal. The tiger is alert, and breathtakingly beautiful with its rich orange and black coloring and dramatic stripes. Its gaze is intense and piercing.

Tigers As Business Symbol And Metaphor

Tigers make great symbols and metaphors, particularly in the realm of business. They represent power, speed, strength and ferocity. They are at the top of the food chain, exactly where every CEO wants to be! Tigers are also known for their stealth and predatory prowess. The extent of their iconic business symbology  an be seen in the idioms that feature tigers. "Put a tiger in your tank", or "Riding A Tiger" or even having a "Tiger by the tail" are all examples of the use of tigers in business metaphors.

Photographing Tigers

I photographed this tiger at the Tiger Temple in Thailand. The temple was quite an experience with the chance to be up close and personal with countless tigers ranging from kittens that we bottle fed on our laps, to teen tigers that we hand feed chicken scraps, to adult tigers that we walked on leashes and photographed at play with giant cat toys (rags tied to the ends of bamboo poles). We even shared breakfast in the form of food obtained by the monks in the way of offerings from local villagers. If you ever get the chance I highly recommend a trip to the tiger temple!

Tigers, Danger And Risk

Of course, one would be remiss if one didn't include in Tiger symbology the concepts of danger, risk and challenge. What could be more dangerous than a tiger? Or a bigger challenge to deal with...or more emblematic of risk?
