Tall Ships And Sea Monsters

In a classic image of challenge and adversity this tall ship sails out of an ocean storm and navigates between the tentacles of a giant squid or similar sea monster. Despite the dire circumstances, there is an element of optimism in the image. The ship is sailing away from the drifting storm clouds and has, at least at this point, eluded the tentacles of the threatening monster. The ship is also sailing in the direction of the light which can be interpreted as a harbinger of success. This is a split image showing the scene both above and below the water's surface at the same time. We see below the surface waves where, as the water deepens and turns from a light blue to almost black (obscuring our visibility), the tentacles of the monster rise up and break the surface as they grapple for the vessel.

The threat here, a tentacled monster from the deep, represents unnamed challenges that are difficult if not impossible to predict. Such challenges, which might include disruptive technologies, terrorist attacks, malware, hackers and computer viruses, are also catastrophic and far reaching. This is an image of the way forward and the future. This is also a picture of looming success.

Ocean Storms, Shipping And Transportation Concerns

This ship facing sea monsters and storms is a perfect metaphor for transportation concerns and the problems that face supply chains and global commerce. The ship can be emblematic for out-dated technology and failure to keep up with progress. What was once the cutting edge of technology has now become a liability.  The ship represents a business in need of innovation and perhaps injections of capital as it seeks out new markets.

Ships at sea can represent journeys and personal growth. In this case the sea monster represents an issue that an individual is grappling with. Personal growth is symbolized by the fact that the sailing vessel has passed through the storms and is on the verge of escaping the sea monster lurking in the depths of the subconscious.
