An urban lighthouse, that is a lighthouse set in a urban landscape or cityscape offers a metaphorical image about issues of vision and progress for business communications. The cityscape in the image is a composite of Dallas, New York, San Francisco, Buenos Aires and Hong Kong creating an impressionistic and exciting vision of a busy metropolis. The lighthouse in the foreground offers stability as well as an observation point for gathering information and making informed decisions. This dynamic and compelling photo combines hectic pace of international business with the iconic symbols. The woman executive standing on the viewing platform represents searching whether it is scanning the urban horizon for investment opportunities or searching the sky for signs of troubling storms.

Unusual Lighthouse Photos

This has to rank as one of the most unusual lighthouse photos. The lighthouse is actually assembled, using Photoshop, from several different lighthouses. I combined elements from Pigeon Point lighthouse, a lighthouse on Kauai, Hawaii, and the lighthouse just North of the Golden Gate bridge. The woman I photographed in my studio. The cityscapes were accumulated over a number of years from my various travels for photo shoots. By stacking numerous city photos on top of each other with differing blend modes and degrees of opacity, we achieved a sense of urban motion and energy. The dramatic sky, a bold and colorful sunset, adds drama and a vivid beauty to the image.
