Smashing An Alarm Clock With A Sledge Hammer: A Slow Motion Stock Video

In this super slow motion stock video clip, a sledge hammer smashes a ringing alarm clock in a burst of flying glass and clock parts, as the alarm clock sits on a bedside nightstand. The kinds of concepts and themes that can be illustrated by this motion clip include deadlines, sleep issues, killing time and even setting boundaries and reaching limits.

Capturing A Viewer's Attention On Time Issues, Sleep Issues and Reaching Limits

This is one versatile video clip able to capture a viewer's attention on a wide variety of important issues that include time topics, sleep issues and reaching one's limits. Who hasn't wanted to take a sledge hammer to your alarm clock? Here that fantasy is fulfilled in super slow motion in which we can see each moment of breaking glass, bending metal and flying parts. This video of a ringing alarm clock, its little clapper flipping back and forth, being destroyed by a sledge hammer, offers a perfect background for a voice over or even type, that delves into whatever message is being communicated. We all are fascinated by viewing things in a way we haven't seen before, and this video is not exception.

Slow Motion Video, the Phantom HD Camera, and GVS Hardware and Software

We used a Phantom HD Camera and GVS software and hardware (GVS 9000 VTR) to capture this super slow motion clock destruction video. The Phantom HD can shoot at tremendously high frame rates. We captured this stock clip at 1900 frames per second in HD. The GVS hardware and software allowed us to be viewing our captures in seconds and then converting them on the fly to the Pro Res 422 codec we needed. When shooting stock video efficiency is paramount, and we achieved that efficiency with the Phantom and the GVS solution. Our team consisted of Stephanie D. Roeser, Robert Kohlhase, Tom Penpark and me (John Lund).
