In this lol funny animal picture and stock photo an Angry Lion sits next to an English Bulldog and scowls angrily down at the hapless canine. The poor bulldog has a very worried expression and leans away from the towering lion. In the case of this photograph the lion symbolizes power, danger, omnipotence and possibly nature beyond our control. The Bulldog represents a powerful force rendered ineffectual in the face of a larger and more significant force. Normally the Bulldog would be seen as an intimidating symbol, but seated next to the larger and obviously more ferocious Lion, the dog becomes seen as a strong force rendered weak. This makes for a interesting as well as entertaining stock photo. A lion and bulldog image can represent such concepts as adversity, challenge, risk, danger, fear and even courage. Heck, this would also be great for "Getting away from it all"!

How To Photograph A Lion

I actually rented the lion. The animal trainer brought the big cat to my studio in a trailer. Luckily I had a roll-up door that allowed us to back the trailer and truck into the studio. That insured that no matter what happened the Lion wouldn't be running around loose in San Francisco! There were actually three trainers that came with the Lion and they gave us a long set of "rules" for working with him including: No separating from each other (as in separating from the "pack"); if a piece of meat (chunks of beef heart were the treats we were rewarding him with) going flying don't help by going to pick it up, if didn't want anything "marked" in the studio, cover it with a tarp (he could "spray" over fifteen feet); and my favorite-get rid of all the sand bags (he might think they were rodents and would have to kill us so that we couldn't get them...I got rid of the sand bags...).It cost me $5,000.00 to rent the big cat. When I asked the animal trainer how long we would get to shoot him she replied "As long as he wants". It turned out we got 45 minutes. But I did get some great shots. How to photograph a lion? Anyway you can!
