How to Create Funny Dog Photos for Fun and Profit

When creating funny dog photos, which we do for both profit and fun, we always start from a layout or drawing. That way, as we take our photos, we can be sure to get each part of each animal in the proper position and lighting in order to have the parts necessary for putting our composite image together. We also try and shoot our locations and props in lighting that works well with the lighting we used to photograph the pets with. The most important thing to remember in shooting any kind of animals is to have patience. You have to be both patient and alert in order to be ready for that one, often fleeting, moment in which everything comes together and you get the shot.

Tips For Photographing Pets

Aside from patience, other tips I can offer for taking pictures of your pets, dogs or cats, is to get down on their level (eye-to-eye helps create a connection between viewer and animal and adds to the sense of intimacy), get your pet's attention at the moment you shoot (ears up and eyes looking into the camera really enhance the image), get a "catch light" reflected in your dog or cat's eyes...a small on camera flash can help with this), and always get your pet's eyes in focus. If your dog or cat's eyes are in focus it almost doesn't matter if nothing else is!
