Funny Dog With A Huge Bone

Happy Dog Pictures and funny animal images bring delight to pet lovers and lay people alike.

Funny dog with a huge bone!

A happy pet, and funny animal pictures seldom fail to bring a smile and warm feeling to any one observing, whether they are a pet lover or not. This little dachshund is really happy as he sits in front of a gigantic bone anticipating a big, a really big, treat. His cute little tail is wagging rapidly in his delight.

John Lund's Animal Antics series of funny animal and pet pictures.

This silly dog photo was created as one of John Lund's funny Animal Antics collection of anthropomorphic pet images. These hysterical creations were made with greeting and birthday cards in mind, but are available for a wide range of uses. The use of humor makes the images more compelling and memorable. In this image the canine, a dachshund, sits on a lawn in front of a huge bone with the blue siding of a house in the background. The photo is simple, clean and hilarious. It is easy to imagine all kinds of funny captions that could fit in with this picture. There is ample room in the image for headlines, mastheads, and body copy making the photo a good one for stock uses.

Photographing dogs for funny and humorous composite images.

I have photographed a ton of dogs and puppies for these funny animal composites. Believe me, there is nothing worse than being half-way through a composite image and realizing that you don't have a part you need long after the shoot is finished and the animal talent gone home. We work from tight layouts and I number each part of the animal that I will need to photograph, then check it off once it is complete. I half to make sure that the angle and the light will work both on the individual animal part, be it a paw, leg, tail or face, and that the parts will merge smoothly into the whole. The trick is that since animals don't bend their limbs in the same way that humans do, but need to for the execution of the image, sometimes we have to go to extreme lengths to shoot those individual parts. For example, to shoot a lion sitting on a throne I needed to get it's underbelly in a more upright position. Not easy! But we have the same difficulties with dogs as well. Sometimes I will light an animal from underneath so that when we flip him over in the computer the light will appear natural and from above. It all can get very complicated! The most important thing to have when photographing animals for these images is patience. A good animal trainer helps as well. They know how far we can go with a dog without stressing it, when to give the animal a break, and even the details of each animal's personality...details that can make the difference in whether a given shoot is successful or not. Often we will have back-up animal talent as well, so that if a given dog or puppy just doesn't seem in the mood to cooperate we can turn to the back-up. For larger dogs it is good to have more than one assistant in case we need to hold him upright. A Ridgeback, for instance, can really tax a trainer in that endeavor. This weightlifting and gym animal shot is a great example of such a situation. Just holding the big fellow upright for a couple of minutes exhausted my two assistants on that shoot! But we try to anticipate such problems and make the shoots enjoyable for the animals and both fun and productive for us. Usually these shoots end up being a win-win undertaking for humans and animals alike!
