Funny elephants make great stock photos. Elephants are one of those creatures that we humans seem to have a natural curiosity and affection for. Their tremendous size and strength inspires wonder and respect, and yet their inherently gentle nature, deep social bonding and reputation for long memories all multiply the feelings we have for them. Consequently, when we see photographs of these great animals we tend to pay a bit more attention, our curiosity aroused. If the images have a clear and strong message, then they make formidable stock images that both grab our attention and stick in our minds for long periods of time. African elephants, or Indian elephants, it doesn't make a difference. We are all naturally curious about elephants, and if possible, I think we would all choose to spend some time with them. That was actually my primary reason for arranging to spend enough time with an elephant to get the raw photography that I needed to put together my collection of funny and conceptual stock elephant photos.

This elephant stock photo was crafted to be effective and versatile. It was created in such a way that it can easily be cropped vertically for such uses as magazine covers and greeting cards. It can be cropped in a long narrow fashion for billboards and magazine spread. There is ample room for headlines, mastheads, and body copy. The image is clean and simple and reads quickly even when a small thumbnail making it an effective photograph for use on the Internet and world wide web. The elephant has tusks which complete the mental picture we carry in our heads, the trunk is arched in a beautiful composition, and the elephant even wears a human-like expression of surprise and happiness at the offer of the mouse's peanut. The background of sky and clouds is pleasant and does not interfere with the main elements. There is even the sense of action as the mouse holds forth the peanut towards the tip of the elephant's trunk.
