A Lighthouse With A Beam Of Light Burning Its Way Through the Fog At Sunset

A lighthouse is seen through the fog and mist as it casts its beam of light providing guidance and safety through dangerous and risk filled waters in this concept stock picture. The lighthouse is a great symbol for showing the way forward, for guidance, safety and salvation. Lighthouses are also symbols of danger, risk, challenge, adversity and change. Those messages are enhanced in this picture by the visible shaft of light cutting through the thick, swirling fog and clouds. The vivid orange-red coloring of the sunset adds even further to the drama and impact of this photograph. This picture is one of a series of lighthouse photos I created for stock photos. Lighthouse photos can be used to illustrate concepts as diverse as Spirituality, preparation, perseverance, and navigation.

Creating lighthouse Pictures With Photoshop

This picture of a lighthouse is actually a composite of two sky photos and the photograph of the lighthouse itself. The lighthouse was photographed at Pigeon Point on the Northern California coastline. The sky and fog shots were captured during a New Mexico storm. The sunset coloring was also added in Photoshop. The shaft of light did not really exist, but was added in, surprise, Photoshop!

This photo of a lighthouse seen through mist and fog and casting its hope-filled beam of light, was carefully crafted to provide for a variety of uses. The image can be cropped either vertical for magazine covers or even rack brochures, or cropped horizontally for billboards and double-truck magazine spread. The image provides ample areas for Headlines and body copy. It is a simple and graphic picture that reads well and quickly in thumbnail size making it a great picture for use on the internet. Depending on the headline and copy the picture can be one of hope, salvation and promise, or of danger, risk, adversity and challenge. Lighthouses are iconic images whose message cuts across the boundaries of language and culture. The associations that people have with lighthouses instinctively make us feel safer and more secure. Yet, it is seldom that we see a lighthouse photographed in the environment for which they are designed; in storms, fog and inclement weather. In this series of lighthouse images I have provided just such settings making their messages that much more targeted and dynamic.
