Creating funny animal pictures in Photoshop

Photoshop is our primary tool for create funny animal photos. But I still believe that the photography is the most difficult and most important part of the process. If you have all of the necessary raw materials, pictures, to work with, then the digital imaging part is simple. With the photography thre is always the potential of something going wrong, of lighting, posing, focus and movement problems. There are so many things that can go wrong. There is nothing I dislike more in my process of creating images than being part way through compositing an image and realizing I don't have the parts I need, or that the lighting is wrong or some other photography deficiency crops up and brings me to a screeching halt. In both the photography and the imaging it is incredibly important to understand light, to understand perspective and to understand what looks right.
