Rapidly Streaming Data And Information, Networking Computers And Business People In An Office

Business people look on in awe and delight as visible streams of information pour in and out of computers in their office. Networks, communications and data streaming are extremely important aspects of our modern information society world and there is a huge and growing demand for images that can illustrate aspects of that world. This photograph was created to help fill that need by providing a strong visual of streaming data and information. Adding ethnically diverse models (African American and Hispanic men) makes the picture that much more applicable to our demographically diverse business and social environment.

Data Streaming And Information Networking Made Visible

The main selling point of this image is the visible nature of the data and information being networked and flowing from one computer to another. To create the image I first rented the cubicle furnishings and set them up in my studio. I lit the set with a combination of Speedotron and ProFoto strobes. I photographed the scene with the models in place. From my image archives I found some streaks of light made with a long exposure of a city street at night. I composited the lights into the cubicle image and use Photoshop's "warp" feature to adjust the flow of lights to more accurately reflect the computers on set.I then set the mode of the light layer on "lighten". Next I duplicated the lights layer, set the mode to "normal", and set the opacity to 30%. Voila!

Interesting visuals are needed that can quickly grap a viewer's attention and compel them to read the accompanying information. With this image a reader can quickly grasp the nature of the information offered, and if they are part of that targeted traffic, they can then avail themselves of what the copy has to offer. The image, even at thumbnail size, effectively demonstrates the flow of data and information, the topic of networking, and the relevance of business making the image appropriate for everything from Billboards to the Internet.
