Social Media Pictures
“Social Media” is one of those concepts that both needs great imagery to portray and at the same time is difficult to photograph. Just how do you photograph the phenomena of social media? What does a picture of social media look like? When creating photographic illustrations of social media for editorial and advertising uses it is best to create photos that are visually interesting, have a quick and clear identification with social media, and are at least somewhat timeless in nature.
Social Media Photos Of Community And Tribes
Part of the inherent draw and focus of social media is the sense of community that is created often referred to as a tribe. One of the challenges of showing a community or tribe is the problem of creating an iconic image that lends the illusion of a vast number of individuals. I have been fortunate to have developed a library of portraits over the last ten years of shooting professional photography, a library that includes a wide ethnic and age range including everything from seniors to babies, from baby boomers to teens, from toddlers to “tweens”…and all of them model released.
Social Media As Opportunity
Social media represents opportunity and a pathway to success and the need to show it as such is vital. To do that in an authentic and convincing matter is often a matter of subtle facial expressions and gestures as well as in context and content. Artfully done, a photo illustration can invite one in and lead to the suspension of disbelief and leading a viewer into the desired message.
Social Media As Challenge And Burden
Social media can also be a challenge and a burden that can also be a very compelling visual for capturing a viewer’s attention. The demands of maintaining social media, whether the media in question is facebook, tumblr, twitter, Pinterest, Linked In or Instagram, can be daunting. Portraying the challenge of mastering social media, dealing with crowd sourcing, and handling the inevitable communications crisis that will spontaneously arise can result in a viewer with such problems to paying close attention to an advertisement or editorial that offers hope and solutions.
Social Media As Global Communications
Social media is a global phenomena and a vital and effective tool for international commerce not to mention a revolutionary global tool for communications between individuals and groups with common causes. Whether social networking furthers the cause of the Arab Spring or spreads the joy of travel photography, it has become a powerful cog in the machine of International relations. Again, the need for images dramatizing the breadth and depth of communications across the globe is growing by leaps and bounds.
Social Media And Social Networking
Social media and social networking are subtle variations of the same beast rather then differences in substance. Ideally one can include the sense of community as well as the networking aspect of social media in one timeless and compelling photo. Metaphorically showing networking might take the form of streaking lights or shaking hands that show connection while adding a montage of ethnically and age-diverse faces add the element of “social”. This gallery presents just a few of our social media photos and more will be added as time goes on.
