A lion, the king of beasts, sits on a jeweled throne, scepter in hand, and a crown on his head, in this funny lion photo. This lion stock photo illustrates concepts such as success and authority using humor for impact. This funny animal picture is available as a greeting card through Marian Heath greeting cards. It can be licensed for stock uses through Getty Images. To create this image I hired a lion and photographed him in my studio. The lion trainer laid down a number of rules for the shoot, including: Don't separate from the group, don't reach for any of the Lion's treats (chunks of beef heart), and cover anything we don't want "marked". It turned out he did "mark" the art director's care (we had in studio parking back then). I asked the animal trainer how much time we would have with the Lion and she replied "As much time as he wants". Turned out to be about 45 minutes or One Hundred dollars a minute. When he first was led out of his trailer and onto the set there was an audible noise from all of us. He did indeed have the bearing of a king! The thing that surprised me the most was his muscularity. You could see his muscles ripple beneath his skin and fur. I couldn't help thinking that if he did decided he wanted to kill us all he could easily have done so. And yet, in a way he was just like a big kitty cat. When he flopped down on the floor and rolled over it looked just like my own cat at home! But when he rose up and braced his legs on my camera stand in a standing position, with his muscles bulging and that slow, almost heavy surge of power, well, let's just say he was an awesome sight and one that garnered a lot of respect. His name is Truman, I don't know how he got that name. I was once standing close to him earlier in his life, when he was still an adolescent. The animal trainer asked me to step back commenting "You are in his strike range". Needless to say, I moved back more than just a step or two! I spent forty-five minutes photographing Truman the lion, then about a half-a-day shooting the props including the crown, sceptor, diamond-pattern rug, bejeweled chair for a throne, the marble flooring, and some satin cloth which we hung in various arrangements. Then it took me two days of Photoshop work to create the final image of the lion, kind of beasts, seated on his throne.
