Active Seniors

Talk about active seniors, this fella has climbed a huge sand dune on the island of Socotra off the coast of Yemen and is proceeding to jump up and click his heels together in celebration. Climbing up a sand dune is hard work but this guy, Jeremy Woodhouse, still has the enegy to show his exhilaration at overcoming yet another challenge.

Socotra has a number of sand dunes and all of them seem awfully big when you start climbing up them! To complicate matters on this one, the wind was blowing like crazy. Our land cruisers got us most of the way up the first dune and we began climbing from there. No easy task. 

Mature People And Vital Active Lifestyles

I guess Jeremy qualifies as a mature person, over fifty anyway, and is an example of a senior with a vital active lifestyle. Jeremy leads photo tours all over the world. This image was shot on a tour to Yemen and Socotra. Most of his trips include up to a dozen people and usually the participants qualify as "matures" as well. On this trip we spent four to six hours a day hiking over very rugged ground. Lodgings ranged from tents to hotels without running water to even a couple of places with hot showers!
