Experimentation in Visual Illustrations of Energy, Motion and Cyberspace

Experimentation in the visual arts, in this case photography, can often result in new and different visuals that can then be applied to subject matter for which well-defined and pre-determined illustrations do not exist. In this case a complicated geometric form of abstract light patterns was created by employing long shutter speeds of just under one second and moving the camera during those exposures. The resulting patterns were then further developed through compositing and retouching in Photoshop. The outcome is a powerful visual of what appears to be a tornado, a swirling vortex, of waves of energy while other forms of communication and data transmission zoom by below.
