Shooting with a camera at 1000 frames per second requires a lot of light. We used 8,000 watts of tungsten light in a custom built soft box. The biggest challenge was spinning the coin in such a way that it stayed in focus. Shooting that tight reduces the focus to a very narrow zone, further shrunk by the fact we were shooting almost wide open. We must have spun that coin fifty times to get just a few takes in which the coin stayed in the area we needed it to stay in, but the shot was worth it.
